Heavenly Widened Roses

It is a good 90 degrees or more here in mid-October. Everyone warned me it gets red hot around now, but I don't mind. Even when I lived back east for a time, I couldn't wait for the draining heat compounded by the humidity. The dry heat of California is different though, it expands outward and upward and just fills a room with a stifling static air that just will not quit. I hope it stays like this for days...though I know that is wishful thinking at best!

As the heat makes using an oven seem like a supremely terrible idea, I've taken to eating raw food the last few days-- raw zucchini "pasta" with raw marinara-- courtesy of this recipe http://www.culinaryadventuresinthekitchen.com/2012/07/07/zucchini-pasta-with-raw-marinara-sauce/ -- I added dried red chilies, oregano, and fresh thyme-- definitely added to the overall flavor. Unreal how good this dish was, so fresh and filling.

After hanging out with good company at a cliff-side bar overlooking the ocean, watching the sunset maraud the sky and quickly fade away-- I have an appreciation today for my present locale. I will deal, somehow.

Here is your song for today. Enjoy.
