Three Complete Thoughts and a Song

1) The first strawberries of the season have arrived and they are spectacular. I have to thank all the people I see doubled over in the fields on a daily basis-- without their tireless effort, none of us would get to indulge. Central Coast strawberries seem unreal; they never get grainy on your tongue or spoil as quickly as they do in other parts of the state. A basket of fruit will be as fresh at the beginning of the week as at the end-- who knew??

2) There is a striking absence of music in this area so I will be making my own. More on that soon.

3) I have now been wine tasting in many parts of the Central Coast and I believe the overall tasting experience to be much more relaxed than anywhere else in the state. Many of the wineries are family owned and operated, and one even had a karaoke machine. Cue final song from "Dirty Dancing"... Last weekend, I spent a very hilarious two days at the Paso Robles Zinfest with nine other wonderful characters. Suffice to say that after the third winery I was just overjoyed to be part of the festivities. My favorite winery was Zenaida Cellars-- beautiful grounds, amazing library tasting, especially the 2001 Zinfandel and 2005 Zephyr. Luckily for my sister (who just figured out I had a blog) I got her a bottle! http://www.zenaidacellars.com/story.html

That's it for now-- I'll leave you with a song that has been haunting me for far too long:
