late discoveries

I love when I discover bands about five years after their one album wonder days are long gone. This time it's Wolf Parade, and I'm so behind that their 2005 "Apologies to the Queen Mary" is a near-certifiable relic. Yet it's the day to day for me right now and I can't stop playing it on repeat. It is a bizarre combination of vocals that sets the tone-- Talking Heads ire meets Modest Mouse delivery all over a striking rhythmic underbelly that punches again and again.

and of course, this:

I'm glad I discovered this late and in a phase in my life where I'm isolated from everything that I know and understand. I'm not part of this community and I won't be really-- and so I'm here where "nobody knows you and nobody gives a damn" and the sooner I accept that, the better.
